This collection is housed together due to format, not provenance. The collection is divided by type of format and size, and includes: portrait images on tinted glass; film negatives, measuring 3x4 inches, 5x3.5 inches, or 5x6 inches in size; glass-plate negatives measuring 3x4 inches, 4x5 inches, 5x8 inches, or 8x10 inches in size; lantern slides, tin types, and church bulletins. A glass-plate negative of a construction scene is dated 1901. World War I propaganda glass-plate negatives are dated 1918. Church bulletins are for the Methodist Episcopal churches of Clarkston (Mich.), 1918, and Wayne (Mich.), 1912. The rest of the collection is undated. Topics documented in the collection include unidentified portraits of children, men, women, couples, and groups, construction scenes, structures (tunnels and bridges, among others), a train, the Hudson (Mich.) train station, cows, various buildings, Dr. Aspach, men fencing, lumberjacks, the Lansing (Mich.) state capitol, the Chippewa Hotel on Mackinac Island, dog sleds, lumber yards, World War I propaganda, ferries in the Great Lakes, and numerous advertisements for businesses, clothing, food, newspapers, various products, a theater, etc. The ferries documented include: the Lansing Shoal, Duluth, Tionesta, Juanita, Straits of Mackinac, City of Mackinac, City of St. Ignace, the St. Ignace, and the Majestic. Other ferries identified by company name only include the Goodrich Transit Company and the Arnold Transit Company.
